Relaxing - Tranquil - Friendly

About the villa

From customary architecture using traditional Balinese techniques incorporated in all rooms featuring high exposed timber ceilings, a tropical open living style providing western comforts and conveniences, right through to the emerald green Java stone swimming pool bordered by lush tropical gardens and relaxing bale pavilion, Villa Songket is the perfect destination for families, friends and honeymoon couples. The open plan layout by architect Yohanes Gabra of La Casa Design Bali brings the outside in and allows maximum airflow through the living/dining room but can be closed to the elements if the guests desire. Local Indonesian natural stone and timber materials such as the iron wood shingle roofs, palimanan and black stone feature walls + benkirai timber parquetry bedroom floors add textures and character to every corner of the villa. Brilliant traditional carved stone statues around the property provide accents along with the artwork, artefacts and the namesake songket fabric from Karengasem displayed in the living room. Each bedroom is themed with bright songket textiles to complete the showcase of Indonesian/Balinese traditional and contemporary heritage carefully compiled by the owners and interior designer, Ade Ferry Wirata from AD Design Consultant.

About songket fabric

songket_udeng_group-01.jpg

Songket is a traditional textile in the brocade family of fabric beautifully woven with a rich mix of metallic and coloured cotton or silk thread. Traditionally reserved exclusively for royalty throughout the Indonesian archipelago, today it is more widely worn by many Balinese, particularly for weddings and special ceremonies. This sense of occasion has been reflected in the eclectic, contemporary design of Villa Songket.
